I started this blog back in 2004 primarily because I was am a bit of a closet geek. I had read a lot about blog culture, was an avid fan of Metafilter, had put a website or two of my own together in the past and felt the time was right to start writing my thoughts down. I was always having conversations with my good friend Mat about great things I had seen on the web and decided it would be a good idea to put them out there for all to see. We both decided to start a blog around the same time and I quickly found it a great way to keep up-to-date with whatever he had been up to – hopefully my limited audience (of my friends) get the same thing out of this site.
Having somewhere to get your thoughts down for all the world to see is refreshing – I feel that I can get things off my chest here, stop thinking about them so much and not incessantly bother my wife about them. She’s very pleased that I no longer bend her ears all the time about people taking too many shopping bags from their local supermarket, speeding motorists, getting the train to Zurich instead of flying there etc, etc. Instead, you get to read about these topics and much more besides!
