Why do submarines have red lights?

Well, apparently it’s because it’s easy for your eyes to switch between red and the dark of night, which is useful when looking out of the window at the enemy!

Thanks for the question goes to Katie who is watching Ghostboat on the TV right now.

Continuing the theme of random questions we were talking about why 99 ice creams are called 99s. Wikipedia has several answers but I have no idea what’s true. Try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99_Flake

Well, it looks as though there are a few websites out there on it. The Guardian has a Notes & Queries section on it and Cadbury say that they invented it in 1935. The Scotsman has an interesting article from January this year where somebody is claiming that it was invented by their family. Perhaps we’ll never know the truth!
